About the Film:
A gripping movie that shows the horrors of war, at times through first person angles. Directed by Steven Spielberg the film follows a squad of US Army soldiers on D-Day as they try to save the last son of the Ryan family. His three brothers were killed within days of each other. The quad travels through war torn France fighting Germans forces as they try to locate Private Ryan.
The first 25 minutes of the film are considered some of the most intensely realistic war scenes even put on the big screen.
The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, and won five: for Best Director (Steven Spielberg), Best Film Editing (Michael Kahn), Best Cinematography (Janusz Kaminsky), Best Sound, and Best Sound Effects Editing.
