About the Show:
A very success 1960’s half-hour show that followed the adventures of Batman and Robin. The show originally aired on January 16, 1966 and stared Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. Although based on the comic book hero the Batman series took a much more campy, pop-art look at the cape crusader. Many celebrities of the time signed on to do guest appearances either as villains or as themselves appearing when Batman and Robin scaled a building, which they did almost every week.
The show ran on ABC for 2 ½ season, 120 episodes, it still remains in reruns today
The movie version of the show premiered in the summer of 1966 and saw Batman and Robin take on their three most popular arch-enemies, the Joker (Cesar Romero), The Penguin (Burgess Meredith), The Riddler (Frank Gorshin) and Catwomen (Lee Meriwether).
The Batman series had a major impact on popular culture and many of the catch phrases and plot themes are still used today.
