About the Player: Since claiming the starting goaltending job for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2004, Robert Esche has helped lead the Flyers to a first place finish in the Atlantic Conference (2003/04), to the NHL Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Stanley Cup Champion, Tampa Bay Lightning (2003/04) and to a second place finish in the Atlantic Conference (2005/2006). During his career he has won the William M. Jennings Trophy (2002/03), given to the goalie with the fewest goals allowed in the NHL. Esche has also played on the 2006 US Olympic team, the 2001 & 2004 US World Cup of Hockey team, and the 1997 & 1998 US World Junior Ice Hockey team. As a member of the 2000 World Cup team Esche shut out the Russian team in Russia. Robert Esche continues to improve his game and is a huge fan favorite in Philadelphia. His stunning saves each night continue to amaze fans.
