About the Player: One of the first great stars of the Philadelphia Flyers Bobby Clarke is one of the legends of hockey. The expansion Flyers selected Clarke with their second pick (17th overall) of the 1969 NHL draft. He ended up playing 15 seasons with the Flyers (1969-1984). Clarke was known for his hard-nosed style of play, his defensive skills and his scoring ability. In 1974 Clarke was named the captain of the Flyers and he helped lead one of the most notorious teams to ever take the ice. Known as the “Broad Street Bullies” the Flyers of the mid-70’s. The team won two straight Stanley Cups. Clarke finished his career with 358 goals and 52 assists for 1210 points; he also had 1453 penalty minutes. He was an eight-time NHL All-Star (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1977, and 1978). During his career he won many awards; 1972 Bill Masterton Trophy, 1973 Hart Memorial Trophy, 1973 Lester B. Pearson Award, 1975 Hart Memorial Trophy, 1976 Hart Memorial Trophy, 1980 Lester Patrick Trophy, 1982 Yanick Dupre Memorial and 1983 Frank J. Selke Trophy. Clarke was also inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame in 1988.
