About the Man:
Martin Luther King Jr., minister, political activist, equal rights leader. He was a great man who took a non-violent approach to the civil rights movement of the 1960's. Born in Atlanta, GA on January 15, 1929 to Rev. Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta King. He graduated from Morehouse College in 1948 ad was later valedictorian of Crozer Theological Seminary
Shortly after college King became the pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. He began his civil rights activism there and quickly became one of the leaders of the movement. He organized a protest in Montgomery after Rosa Parks was arrested. He led many other marches and nonviolent protests in the name of equal rights. His efforts lead to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He also received many awards including the Nobel Piece Prize in 1964 and the Presidential Medal of Honor (1977). Not enough can be said about this great man, he changed the world and is still one of the most admired people in the word, almost 40 years since his assassination.
