About the Player: Lawrence Taylor is considered the greatest linebacker of all-time. During his career terrorizing opposing teams offenses Taylor won many award and accolades. Taylor when on to run of double-digit sacks per season from 1984 to 1990. He helped lead the Giants to two Super Bowl victorires XXI and XXV and was named the league MVP in 1986, only the fourth defensive player to do so. During his NFL career Taylor was given the following awards: 1981 NFL Defensive Rookie and Player of the Year, 1982 Defensive Player of the Year, 1983 NFC Player of the Year, 1986 NFC Player of the Year, 1986 Bert Bell awards, 1986 NFL MVP, 1986 Defensive Player of the Year, member NFL’s 75th Anniversary All-Time team and member NFL 1980’s All-Decade Team. Following his retirement in1993 Taylor had his #56 retired by the Giants and was elected to the Football Hall of Fame (1999). Taylor would forever be remembered for his impact on the NFL, he alone redefined the way a linebacker attacked the offense. His style of play forced many offenses to change the way they blocked a linebacker.
