About the Boxing Legend
Muhammad Ali is a legend; his personality and strong beliefs made him bigger then just a sports personality. He was a voice of his people and is still admired by millions throughout the World. In 1999 Sports Illustrated voted him the Sportsman of the Century.
Arguable the best Heavyweight boxer ever, Ali was the World Heavyweight Champion three times. He also won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. Known as much for his mouth as for his fists, Ali beat opponents with finesse and power. His saying "float like a butterfly, stings like a bee" expressed his style.
During his career he had a record of 56-5 with 47 knockouts. A couple of his fights are considered the greatest ever: "The Rumble in the Jungle" against George Forman in which Ali used "the rope a dope" to defeat the younger, stronger champion. The Thrilla in Manila in which Ali defeat Joe Fraizer in 14 grueling rounds.
To this day the boxing world has yet to see another fighter like Muhammad Ali and most belief it never will. He helped to establish boxing as a World sport watched by millions.
