About the Players One of the greatest and most popular NBA players of all-time. Charles Barkley started his NBA career in 1984 after being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round (5th overall). Sir Charles quickly became a force underneath the glass and was nicknamed “the round mound of rebound”. Barkley was an 11-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA team member and the league MVP in 1993. He also helped the United States win two Gold Medals in the Olympics (1992 & 1996). Charles is one of only four players that compiled 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists during their career. He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
