About the Player
Viewed by many as one of the best point guards in basketball, Jason Kidd helped lead the New Jersey Nets to two straight NBA Finals (2002 & 2003). This former first round draft pick (second overall) has impressed fans and opposing players everywhere he has played.
Kidd is a threat on both sides of the court. He is forth all-time on the NBA list for triple-doubles he has 76. He is an 8-time all-defensive team selection (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), a 7-time NBA all-star (1996, 1998, 200, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), a former rookie of the year (1995), and a 3-time assists leader in a season (1999, 2001, 2003).
Jason is one of only three players in NBA history to record at least 12,500 points, 5,500 rebounds, and 7,500 assists in his career (the others are Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson). He also is one of only two players in NBA history to average a triple-double in a playoff series of six or more games (17.5 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 10.2 apg) in the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Boston Celtics (the other is Magic Johnson). With all of his accomplishments Jason Kidd will surely be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame when hi playing career ends.
