About the Player:
Originally drafted in the 15th round of the 2002 Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers, Anthony Reyes opted to play one more season for the University of Southern California. In 2003 the Cardinals selected him in the 15th. Reyes quickly moved through the Cardinals farm system. In 2006 he started with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds but was called up after an injury to Cardinals starter Mark Mulder.
Reyes finished the season with a 6-9 record He was the starting pitcher for the Cardinals in game 1 of the 2006 World Series. He pitched 8 inning only giving up 2 runs, he was named player of the game. The Cardinals went on to win the series 4-1 over the Detroit Tigers.
