About the Player: Drafted in the second round of the 1996 Major League Baseball draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, Jimmy Rollins has become one of the best hitting shortstops in the game today. He is a three-time National League All-Star (2001, 2002, 2005), can hit for power and average and has a great glove. From August 2005 to April 2006 Rollins had a 38 game hitting streak going, the longest in Phillies history and the 8th longest in Major League baseball. Along with Chase Utley (the Phillies second baseman) and Ryan Howard (Phillies first baseman), Rollins makes up the core of a young exciting Phillies team. Rollins combined with Utley to become the first pair of middle-infielders in National League history to hit 25 or more home runs; Rollins hit 25, Utley had 32. Rollins is an all-around threat, he can hit for power, has blazing speed and can hit for average. Baseball fans will be watching his slick fielding for many years to come
