Regarded as one of the best player of all-time, Alex Rodriguez the New York Yankees third basemen has been a force in baseball. Since his first full season 1996 he leads the major leagues in runs, total bases, home runs, RBI and extra-base hits. He has the most home runs for any player before at the age of thirty.
originally drafted with the first overall pick of the 1993 Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners. He started for the Mariners in 1994 at the age of 18. Before the 2000 season Arod signed with the Texas Rangers and became the highest paid player in baseball.
Alex was traded to the New York Yankees in 2004, he moved to third base to accommodate Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. During his time in New York Arod has adjusted to his new position and to the spotlight in New York, he was the 2005 A.L. MVP, his second in two year (2003 with Texas).
During his time in the Majors Alex has won many award and honors; 2000 Baseball America MLB Player of the Year, AL Hank Aaron Award (2001, 2002, 2003), 2002 Baseball America MLB Player of the Year, 2002 The Sporting News Player of the Year, 9-time All-Star (1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), 8-time Silver Slugger (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005) and a 2-time Gold Glover (2002, 2003).
Rodriguez has also won a batting title (1996), four home run titles (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005) and an RBI title (2002). He is on his way to the Hall of Fame and possibly the most home runs of all-time. Love him or not all fans must agree he is a great ballplayer.
