About the Player: One of the rare five-tool players in baseball, Carlos Beltran has had a number of MVP quality seasons during his 9 year career. Originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 1995. Beltran was the 1999 American League Rookie of the year. He played for the Royals he was traded to the Houston Astros during the 2004 season. While with the Astros he tied the record for most in a single post seasons with 8 home runs. Beltran had five straight playoff games with a home run, a major league record. Following the 2004 season Beltran signed a lucrative 7-year contract with the New York Mets. He hit three home runs for the Mets during the 2006 playoffs and finished fourth in the National League MVP voting. He also won his first Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards. Beltran is a three-time All-Star and the only player ever to be voted onto the American League teams and play on the National League squad, as he was traded to the Astros from the Royals less than a week before the game.
