About the Players:
What a year for the Red Sox 2004 turned out to be. First they win the American League Wild Card, then they defeat the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series after being down three games to none. The season cumulated with the team's first World Series victory since 1918. They swept the St. Louis Cardinals in four games.
A large reason why the Red Sox were so successful was the teams pitching staff. And a big part of that staff was starters Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling and Derek Lowe as well as closer Keith Foulke. During the World Series each of these four pitchers each were credited with a World Series win Keith Foulke won game 1, Curt Schilling won game 2, Pedro dominated in Game 3 and Derek Lowe sealed the Championship with a shut-out in game 4. This Red Sox team and these four pitchers will be remembered and cherished by Red Sox fans for years to come.
