About the Player
Marcus Giles has been the starting second basemen for the Atlanta Braves for the past three seasons. Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 53rd round of the 1996 basbeall draft, Giles quickly developed into a slick fielder with a good stick. In 1999, only his third year of professional baseball Giles was named the Carolina League's Most Valuable player while leading the league in batting (.326), hits (162), and doubles (40).
Giles earned the starting second basemen job for the Atlanta Braves in 2003. That same year he was named to the National League All-star team and finished the season with 49 doubles, breaking the Atlanta Braves record for doubles in a season. He has been a consistent contributor for the Braves throughout his professional career.
